ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Chinese-Polish Art & Design Competition 2020 "MIND & SENSES IN ART & DESIGN" was organised within the frames of the Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC), which includes 27 member universities, among them 12 Polish ones.

The "MIND & SENSES IN ART & DESIGN" was addressed to students and employees of universities affiliated with the Chinese-Polish University Consortium and constitutes an extremely valuable platform to promote the dialogue between universities in China and in Poland as well as between Polish and Chinese academic and business partners.

The subject of the Competition MIND & SENSES IN ART & DESIGN are individual interpretations and references to the traditions and the present day life of the Consortium's partner countries, which may contribute to mutual knowledge and closeness of cultures and their promotion.

Thematic categories of competition works:

  • Spatial: Objects or interiors inspired and embedded in traditional Chinese and Polish architecture.
  • Artistic: Paintings, sculptures and photographs referring to the history and cultural heritage of China and Poland.
  • Hybrid: Interdisciplinary works combining two forms of activities mentioned above.

According to the competition regulations, the deadline for submitting the works was on 30 January 2020.

A total of 104 works were submitted for the competition.
On 12 February 2020, at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice a formal sitting of the Competition Jury was held.

Due to the high level of works, the Jury decided to award:
I prize, II prize, two III prizes ex aequo and seven honourable mentions.
